Welcome to NYC and site update

Well, I finally broke one of my cardinal rules and to be honest… it was time. I finally visited the city I’ve always suspected would capture my heart and be the one… New York. It also happens to be the capital of the advertisement and design world in general and well… that is what I love to do! I will give one piece of advice… don’t plan a major trip 3 days ahead.

Also… site update. Lately I’ve spent an absorbent amount of time learning about wordpress and the fundamentals of how the program (if you want to call it that) works. It’s been frustrating at times, but I like a challenge. Expect to see a real functioning site soon!

Introduction

intro

So I’ll start off my first post with a general introduction to myself and what I hope to gain from opening this site.

My name is Brian Joyner and I am a 22 (soon to be 23) year old recent college grad just trying to make my mark on the world.  Aren’t we all?  I am a born and bred Chapel Hillian, but after 22 years in the self-titled college town of “Chapel Thrill”, I am ready to move on and start the rest of my life in a big city.  It’s been a wonderful town, but I am a big city kid who loves the feeling you get from living and working in a city.

My main goal for this site is to showcase my unique background and perspective of the world.  More importantly, I want to use this site as a portfolio of my advertising ideas and creative talents. They are some of my passions in life and I would love the opportunity to dive into the advertisement world and show perspective schools and employers what I can bring to the table.

Ultimately I plan on attending art/design school as a graduate student in communication design or advertisement design, but for the time being, I am taking some much needed time away from school and researching potential graduate programs and possibly entering the workforce. From experience, I want to enter the next stage of my life in a positive and re-energized manor. After a very exhausting undergraduate experience, I am really enjoying being able to take my time, research potential schools, and hopefully start making a name for myself as an innovative and creative thinker.  As a student I have spent my educational career exploring my interest and after years doing a little of this and a little of that, I finally feel confident of what I want to get out of life!  This is where I hope to express my ideas and hopefully get some feedback in the process.
